An engaging, pre-interview experience designed to help candidates discover where they fit best within the team. Through immersive lessons, company insights, and behavior-based questions, this interactive sheet sets the stage for a more insightful, productive interview — ensuring the right people land in the right roles.

My Role

This project is pretty simple,

I just had couple meetings with our office manager, our boss, and create this sheet alone. 💪

As the learning designer, I investigated the key-points that the client need to know from the candidates. I also ran a small pilot and collected feedback from over 20 interview candidates.

🎯 Analysis

  • Goal: Streamline hiring for basic roles (paperwork and internships) by helping interviewers quickly assess candidate fit. It also aims to ease candidate anxiety during wait times.

  • Candidate Profile: Entry-level applicants, often with minimal industry experience. They may feel nervous or unsure about the company’s culture and expectations.

  • Key Challenges: Limited interviewer availability leads to long waits without guidance. The fast-paced environment leaves little time for multi-round interviews, making quick, effective screening essential.

🛠️ Design

  • Learning Objectives: Help candidates understand the company and available roles while reducing pre-interview stress. Uncover key personality traits and work styles to support faster, better hiring decisions.

  • Content Strategy:

    • Lesson 1: Company Overview — A brief, friendly introduction to the company’s story and values.

    • Lesson 2: Role Breakdown — Simple, clear explanations of Producing, Design, and Marketing team roles.

    • Lesson 3: Behavioral Questions — Engaging scenarios with playful, personality-based outcomes (e.g., “You're the Team Energizer!”).

  • Tone: Light, supportive, and approachable — designed to engage candidates and make a positive first impression.

🎬 Development

  • Tools Used: Articulate Rise for its clean, interactive layout and quick content creation. Custom graphics and concise text ensure easy navigation and fast completion.

  • Content Creation: Short, punchy lessons mix company info with behavior-based scenarios. Candidates track their answers, leading to a fun, self-reflective conclusion about their work style.

  • Collaboration: Built with input from hiring managers to ensure behavior questions align with team needs. The content encourages both self-discovery and a smoother interview process.

🚀 Implementation

  • Delivery Platform: On-site, self-paced questionnaire, designed to keep candidates engaged while waiting for the busy office manager. It prevents awkward downtime and primes candidates for a better interview.

  • Rollout Strategy: Easily accessible via tablet or computer in the waiting area. Candidates complete the sheet before their interview, giving interviewers quick insights into their personalities and potential fit.

📊 Evaluation

  • Formative Evaluation: Early test runs gathered feedback from interviewers on whether the behavior insights matched candidate performance. Adjustments were made to improve clarity and engagement.

  • Summative Evaluation: Interviewers reported smoother, more productive conversations with candidates. Over 50 candidates have completed the sheet, with positive feedback on both sides — especially regarding reduced anxiety and faster decision-making.

  • Future Iterations: Potential upgrades include a more gamified format with branching scenarios. AI-driven summaries for interviewers could speed up evaluations even more. The sheet may also expand to cover mid-level roles if the current version proves effective long-term.

Conclusion

The Interactive Warm-Up Sheet has successfully streamlined our interview process for entry-level roles. Over 50 candidates have completed the sheet, with 100% of interviewer reporting smoother, more efficient interviews due to the pre-assessment insights. Candidates also responded positively, with 80% mentioning that the interactive format reduced their anxiety while waiting. By balancing company introduction with personality-driven insights, this tool has improved both the candidate experience and hiring decisions. Future iterations may incorporate AI-generated summaries and expanded role assessments to further enhance efficiency.
